Types of Therapy
Counseling sessions are customized based on the needs of each client. I regularly incorporate the following types of therapy in sessions:

Based on the idea that the way someone thinks and feels affects the way he or she behaves

Effective for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who have experienced violence, abuse, natural disasters, or other traumatic events

Views people as separate from their problems and destructive behaviors

Addresses the needs of those suffering from the destructive effects of early trauma

Helps resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation needed to change behaviors

Aims to bring unconscious or deeply buried thoughts and feelings to the conscious mind so that repressed experiences and emotions, often from childhood, can be brought to the surface and examined

Dive into past thoughts and feelings to understand how they shape who you are today

Holistic approach less focused on past experiences and environmental influences on behavior, and more on the positive side of human nature

Incorporates mindfulness practices that include present moment awareness, meditation, and breathing exercises

Concentrates on finding solutions in the present and exploring one’s hope for the future in order to find a quick and pragmatic resolution of one’s problems

Helps couples repair disconnection and renew the emotional bond that may have been overshadowed by conflict, disappointment, or growing distance

Customizes the therapeutic process for each individual by using whatever form of treatment, or combination of treatments, has been shown to be most effective for a particular problem

Behavior modification techniques are used to support a client in changing unhealthy or unwanted behaviors to produce healthier outcomes
